Waiting for a girl like you

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

We went out for a pleasant afternoon stroll the other day. It was on the chilly side, so I bundled Lulu up nice and cozy. It was a little bit windy outside, which she had never experienced.

She kept trying to catch her breath when the wind was blowing and I caught her licking her lips a lot. She had a very concerned look on her face for the first few minutes we were out. Then she kicked back, enjoyed the ride and eventually fell asleep.

When Lulu plays on the floor, one of her constant toys is her little Mickey Mouse. He plays a lullaby when you pull the pacifier out of his mouth.

On this particular day, she was a little cranky and not wanting to nap. While she doesn’t typically use a binkie, she happened to fall asleep with it in her mouth while on the floor.

Right next to her little pal, Mickey.

2 month check-up

weight: 10 lbs. 14 ozs.
height: 22 3/4 inches (the nurse thinks she was over measured last time we were there)

We had a good appointment with the doctor. Lulu is healthy and growing steadily. I was feeling slightly guilty while we were there because I knew she was going to be getting some of her vaccinations. She was so happy, all smiley and excitedly kicking her little legs.

her legs and arms are a blur because she was moving them so fast!

I stayed up by her head while the nurse was getting ready to give her the shot. Her big brown eyes were looking at me, big smile on her face…then as soon as the nurse stuck the needle in her chubby little leg her face instantly turned red and she started wailing.

not so happy after the shot. See the little band aid on her leg?

I couldn’t scoop her up off the table fast enough! She cried full out for a few minutes. Then they turned to pouty complaints for a little while and within 5 minutes she was smiling again!

I’m in love with the B.T.C.

On Saturday we brought Lulu to her first tattoo convention: the 7th annual Boston Tattoo Convention to be exact. She finally got to wear her neon green, leopard print onesie (courtesy of Auntie Sara) for the occasion. We met up with some of our friends upon arrival, along with many tattooed freaks (and I say that with affection) from around the world. She was perhaps the youngest person there and attracted much adoration and interest from everyone.

And thus brings us to the picture portion of our post:

Our one goal for the day: to get a picture of the baby with The Lizardman no matter what. Surprisingly, it took very little effort.

Lulu and The Lizardman!

Mission accomplished.

Summer is just about over and there’s a slight chill in the air these days. People continue to be super generous in giving Lulu things: toys, books and lots of clothes (the girl’s got more clothes in her closet than I do now!). Even our friend’s moms (who’ve never met us) gives the baby presents!

This sweater was made by our friend, Gwen's mom (thank you!). There are even matching leg warmers!

Labor day weekend we had a full house. Our friends Fred & Kristyn came to visit (with even more presents!) and meet the little one. The weather was great on that Sunday, so we spent a good portion of afternoon sitting outside having appetizers and cocktails, watching life in Salem go by.

Monday, after Fred & Kris headed back home to NYC, Lulu’s aunties came for a visit. They’re always so excited to see her that sometimes it can get overwhelming for such a little girl. She was passed around more than a football that day and they took pictures of her like they were paparazzi! They just love her so much.

Every day she changes, getting stronger and stronger. She is always trying to sit up on her own and pushing her little legs up to stand. She does a great job holding her head up for long periods of time, even though she ends up looking like a bobble head on occasion.

I can’t believe how much she’s changed in seven short weeks and I’m looking forward to see what’s in store for the next seven!
